Boiled eggs, alone or stuffed, are one of the most loved appetizers ever. Preparing them is really simple but when it comes to peeling hard-boiled eggs it seems that all the forces of the universe are working against us. Sometimes they clean up well others we find ourselves with the white part completely destroyed, and yet we did everything as usual. Today we reveal our 5 different ways to shell a hard-boiled egg, all of them tested and perfect if you need perfectly clean eggs in a short time. Let’s begin!

How to cook boiled eggs

Of course, it all starts with cooking. It is here that the first mistakes then responsible for all the effort we will have to do to peel the eggs. First, avoid using eggs too fresh because the air bubble inside is too small and will make it difficult to peel them. Also avoid eggs with white shellsmore difficult to shell than the classic ones.

Once you have chosen the eggs put them in a saucepan and cover them with at least 5cm of cold water. Add a teaspoon of bicarbonate which by raising the ph will cause the membrane to detach from the shell and cook for 8 minutes starting from the boil. Drain the eggs from the boiling water and transfer them to a bowl cold water and, optionally, ice. Then continue following one of the five proposed techniques.

How to peel hard boiled eggs

We said there are at least 5 different ways you can go about it, all of them a lot simple and perfect if you want to peel the egg flawlessly. Let’s see them together.

Classic method. Tap both ends of the egg on a surface and start peeling the shell at the widest part, where the shell is usually found. air bubble. In this way, removing the shell will be really simple.

Roll the egg. Another simple but effective technique is to lightly tap the egg on the cutting board and then roll it under your hand, applying light pressure. In this way the shell shatters and it will be very easy to remove it.

In the jar. Once cooked and cooled, put the egg in a glass jar with a lid, close and shake vigorously but not too much or you risk breaking the egg white as well. The shell also in this case shatters and it is sufficient to rinse the egg under water to remove it perfectly.

With the spoon. It’s a slightly more delicate technique because it involves passing the spoon between the egg and the shell after removing part of the latter. The risk is to damage the egg white so if you need intact hard-boiled eggs, it is better to opt for one of the previous methods.

Blowing. Break the shell at both ends of the egg then push with your thumbs (or blow) from the wider end. The egg will come out intact without making any effort.
