Let’s start with some numbers. 100 grams of tangerines contains a third of the daily value of vitamin C and about 2 grams of fiber. Also, tangerines are rich in vitamins A (4% of the daily value) and B (up to 5% of the daily value).

And also copper – there is more of it in these fruits than in others. Copper is important: it helps absorb iron and produce red blood cells.

As for fiber, tangerines contain both soluble (promotes the absorption of water into the intestines) and insoluble fiber (improves the quality of digestion).

The alkaloid synephrine (also found in tangerines) fights “bad” cholesterol, potassium works to strengthen the heart muscle and improves metabolism.

Even the white veins (which we often remove when cleaning the fruit) are also useful: they contain the flavonoid nobiletin, which fights various inflammations.

It is possible, but in moderation and not for everyone

In general, tangerine is good and tasty for everyone. You just need to know the measure – do not eat more than three or four fruits a day. With allergies, diabetes or stomach problems, try to do without tangerines at all.


Tangerines can be used not only in sweet dishes and drinks: their taste goes well with poultry, fish, and vegetables.

Salad with chicken


  • Mandarin – 2 pcs.
  • Chicken fillet – 1 pc.
  • Apple – 2 pcs.
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp.
  • Mayonnaise – 2 tbsp.

  1. Boil fillets and eggs.
  2. Cut the chicken into cubes, also cut the eggs and put everything in one bowl.
  3. Peel the apples, remove the skin and cut into cubes.
  4. Pour in lemon juice.
  5. Peel the tangerines, cut the slices into pieces, send to the salad bowl.
  6. Season with mayonnaise, pepper.

Tangerines in a jar


  • Mandarin – 10 pcs. (medium)
  • Lemon – 1 pc.
  • Sugar – 250-300 g.
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Star anise – 1 pc.

Step by step cooking recipe

  1. Cut the peeled tangerines into slices and put in jars.
  2. Squeeze juice from lemon.
  3. Add star anise, cinnamon, juice, boiled water on top.
  4. After leaving for fifteen minutes, drain the water, add sugar, boil new water.
  5. Pour the tangerines again and sterilize for 10 minutes in a saucepan with water.
  6. Roll up the jars and put them upside down.

Chicken in the oven with tangerines


  • Chicken – 4 thighs
  • Tangerines – 2 pcs.
  • Onions – 1-2 pcs. (if two, then small)
  • Garlic – 1 clove
  • Soy sauce – 1 tbsp.
  • Ginger – 1 tsp

Step by step cooking recipe

  1. Cut thighs into large pieces.
  2. Make a marinade: squeeze the juice of one fruit, grate its zest.
  3. Grate ginger – so that you get a teaspoon in volume, and add to the tangerine. Put in the microwave for one minute.
  4. Mix crushed garlic, soy sauce and salt with warm liquid. Pour the marinade over the meat, mix and leave for half an hour.
  5. Then put on a form lined with foil and greased with oil. Peel the remaining tangerines, divide into slices. Cut the onion.
  6. Put both onion and mandarin slices in a mold and put in the oven for 45 minutes (180 degrees).
