Step by step cooking recipe
Remove the head, tail and fins from the herring, clean the fish from the skin, bones and entrails. Rinse the fillet and cut into thin long strips, roll into rolls.
Rinse vegetables well, clean. Cut the onion into cubes, grate the carrots and zucchini on a coarse grater.
Pour a small amount of vegetable oil into a cauldron or large saucepan, put the grated vegetables, salt and simmer over low heat for an hour.
Then add salt, sugar, fish soup seasoning (optional), tomato paste, vinegar and prepared herring. Simmer everything together for another 1 hour.
Arrange the workpiece in pre-prepared sterile jars, roll up and leave to cool at room temperature. Store cooled jars of canned herring salad in a cool, dark place.
